What is the Alexander Technique?
The Alexander Technique is a psychosomatic method developed by F.M. Alexander which allows us, through a series of procedures, to become aware of our body’s ability to function as an entire entity, instead of as individual components. This leads to an improved use, coordination, and functioning of the body, and can alleviate pain, as well as many physical and mental ailments.
How can the Alexander Technique help me?
help alleviate chronic pain and improve chronic health problems
improve performance in dance, music, and sports
injury prevention and recovery
reduce stress and fatigue
Private Lessons
Lessons take place at my home studio in Kenmore. During each 45-minute lesson, we will go through a series of procedures that involve simple physical movement and verbal instruction. These procedures aim to re-educate the psychophysical mechanism and improve the body’s inner coordination. Please wear comfortable clothes.
Workshops
I am available for introductory Alexander Technique workshops which will cover the history and evolution of F.M. Alexander’s work. A minimum of two-hours is recommended to sufficiently cover these topics. Each willing participant will receive hands-on work during the workshop.

About Mona
Mona Sangesland came to the Alexander Technique in 2016, after years of repetitive stress injuries rendered her unable to perform her instrument with full ease and mastery. The journey to regain health of body and mind led her to complete a year of study on a Fulbright Scholarship at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Here she researched the differences in musical training curricula between Finland and the United States, with a focus on available resources for injury prevention. Following her completion of this program, she pursued an Alexander Technique training certification. She graduated in 2022 from The Alexander Technique Training Center in Boston, MA under the direction of Ruth Kilroy, and now offers private lessons from her home studio in Kenmore, WA.
